Topical Blog Post:Event

On April 17, 2010 I attended a local community gathering: “The 6th annual Quality of Life Conference” here in San Jose, Ca. It was located at the African American Community Center, a few blocks away from San Jose State University. Workshops began around 9:30a.m. and ended at 2:00p.m. Throughout the day I was filled with valuable information that can help me in the future. Topics that were discussed were ways to prevent cancer, and other illnesses, ways to stay in shape, how to eat healthy, as well as ways to keep your teeth. Each guest speaker was vey well-educated and possessed wonderful careers. Many people are unaware that there are ways to prevent deadly diseases like cancer, and diabetes, the workshop that was given, allowed us listeners to learn ways to avoid these diseases from happening to us.

It all starts with the way we eat; if we learn to eat healthier we can prevent cancer. Berries, strawberries, walnuts, broccoli, brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes are examples of the different foods you can begin to eat for a healthier diet. Exercise was a topic discussed along with many others. Staying in shape is good overall. Simple stretches can get the job done, jogging, and even dancing are ways that can help you stay in shape and ways to help limit gaining excess fat. A 10 minute work out before you go to sleep or when you wake up can put you on the path of beginning a new exciting life.
