Jessica Smythe, 34, of Pacifica, was found in Sharp Park by a local hiker. According to San Mateo County coroner Robert Foster said there was nothing to indicate that Smythe's death was not accidental. He said her death was " consistent with fresh water drowning associated with probable hypthermia". Foster also added that she also had methamphetamines in her system at the time she died.

Top News Assignment # 2
According to a San Jose Mercury News article, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in East San Jose Thursday night around 7:00 p.m. The police received a call stating that two young 15, and 16, were involved in a stabbing on Kollmar Drive and Story Road. Both victims identity has yet to be released.
This past Thursday’s homicide was the second killing in the past week. Unfortunately the motive for the stabbing is not known, but the city’s police department is working to bring these boys families’ closure. In my opinion, we all need to be aware of our surroundings and our young ones. People take things such as life for granted by taking other people’s lives. We seem to lose our faith in one another and that’s why so many deaths have been happening day after day.
This story is very important because its about the surroundings of local residents of San Jose, Ca. Not only do they reside here, but these are people’s children being affected. In this story it has the news values of impact and proximity and also immediacy/timeliness and emotion/ human interest.
